biogI was born in Hampshire and educated at Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls, Elstree. After leaving Kingston Polytechnic with a degree in Fine Art, I embarked on a varied career, which had little to do with artand a lot to do with paying off student loans, and included jobs as diverse as Emergency Planning for Northamptonshire County Council, public relations, tourism and fashion design. It wasn’t until the late 90’s that I realised that none of it was for me and what I really wanted to do was act. I did a post-graduate course at Drama Studio London and not only survived but loved it and launched myself into the profession in 1999. Since leaving DSL, I have been fortunate enough to have played a variety of roles including, most recently a part in a film for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park which will open in Spring 2010 in Orlando. Most recently on stage I played Rita in Educating Rita, Lettice in Lettice and Lovage, two lovely character roles in the world premiere of Carl Hiaasen’s Lucky You and Suzanne in another world premiere, Mother’s Gift, all in the USA, where my naval officer husband Steve and I have just spent three years. We were in Key West, Florida which, hurricanes notwithstanding, was wonderful! Some other roles include Mary Smith in a Middle/Far East tour of Ray Cooney’s ‘Caught in the Net’; Councillor Mrs Pearce in Alan Ayckbourn's "Confusions"; a Greek translation of Beckett's "Come and Go"; Faith, the PM's wife in "Charlie Sexboots" both at the Man in the Moon and Stratford Circus. For TV I will be seen in the BBC’s Crisis Control early next year and played Margo Leadbetter in the BBC 'mocumentary', "Margo - Beyond the Box". I have made several short films and played news reporter Carol Muncer in the British feature film "24 Hours in London", for One World Films. I took up running in Florida, where the weather was good, and have completed 3 marathons and 4 half marathons. I try to keep it up here but really don’t like running in the rain! I have recently started race walking – you know the funny wiggling walk – and I love it! I also do a lot of voice overs and speak fluent Greek. I used to play lacrosse and once bred canaries. I have recently started growing veg and quickly discovered that tomatoes are not my forte. I am a Council member of The Actors’ Charitable Trust, sitting on both the Welfare and Denville Hall committees. A link to the TACT website can be found on my home page. Have a look at the charity and what it does and if it appeals, please join – for just £10 a year. |
